Reedsy Editor Betrayed Me and I'll Never Get Over It
I once loved the Reedsy Editor tool, but the enshittification has begun.
I once raved about the Reedsy Studio tool, aka Reedsy Editor. Here’s some of what I wrote:
Well, guess what. The Reedsy Studio editor is no longer free.
Or, I should say, they’ve added—shudder—“premium” features. What are these features?
Things like pinning notes for easy access—yeah, that service they used to offer for free? You have to pay for it now.
You can still write and format your book on the Editor, but you no longer have access to unlimited planning boards and notes.
I discovered this when I went to create a new board for one of my main characters, only to be told that I have to pay $7.99/month now.
And yeah, I should have seen this coming. Eight dollars a month isn’t particularly expensive. But guess what! I’m still pissed. It was a great organizational tool.
Back to Scrivener I go.
Writing without a paywall is important to me, but writing is work. If you enjoyed this post or found it helpful, I would be honored if you consider donating.
I hate when previously free services become locked and suddenly you have to pay for them 😒 so I totally understand. That sucks. And honestly $8 per month is expensive! Why is everything a subscription service? Imagine how much money that tallies up to, paying $8 every month every year over and over. What a massive drain of resources
