This week’s microfiction is a 70-word story about knowing what you want in life.
Second Chances
Keisha jiggled her foot, eyes roaming the lobby. She had arrived ten minutes early for her interview, just like her dad taught her: “Early is on time; on time is late; late is unacceptable.”
But arriving early gave her time. Time to doubt. Time to notice the EXIT sign beckoning her. Time to wonder.
“Keisha?”
She blinked and noticed the suited man approaching.
“Sorry,” Keisha smiled. “I was just leaving.”
