This week’s microfiction is a 50-word story about hiding from danger.
Exit Strategy
The sound of footsteps faded. Jarrett sagged in relief but continued holding his breath. Once certain it was safe, he slowly exhaled and crept from his hiding spot. The exit was right there. He crawled faster.
So caught up was he that Jarrett failed to hear the footsteps approaching behind.
